Opting in for Text Messages
What your contacts need to know before you add them
No matter where you or your contacts are located, before you add someone's phone number to LoLo, you need to have told them:
- They'll receive recurring, automated text messages from you via LoLo (gift notifications and reminders)
- Message frequency varies
- Message and data rates may apply
- They can reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for support
- Messages come from LoLo's short code, 59016
This disclosure, together with your existing relationship with the contact (client, friend, colleague, etc.), is what allows LoLo to text them on your behalf.
For senders in the United States
Your contacts aren't required to complete a separate opt-in process inside LoLo before you add them — but you must already have their permission, and you must have given them the disclosure above, before you add their phone number.
For senders in Canada
Canadian law (CASL) requires your contacts to actively opt themselves in before you can text them, in addition to the disclosure above. Here's how that works:
- Your client receives your regular monthly email
- They click a link to opt in for SMS (text)
- They're taken to a form where they enter their info (email and phone number)
- They get a confirmation text asking them to reply YES to enroll
- Once confirmed, they'll start receiving LoLo via email and SMS
No email? No problem. Visit your LoLo profile page, copy your personal opt-in link, and send it by text or DM. (Opt-in links are currently only available in Canadian user profiles.)
Compliance reminder
By submitting the opt-in form, contacts agree to receive occasional automated text messages and emails from LoLo on your behalf. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. They can reply STOP or unsubscribe at any time. All SMS messages come from LoLo's 5-digit short code, 59016.
